Keeping A Normal Blood Pressure
Having a normal blood pressure means being healthy because it means your blood pressure is neither low nor high. Having a low or high blood pressure is not normal at all and may pose as risks to your health. When you have a low blood pressure or hypotension, it is usually indicated by symptoms such as dizziness, weakness, and fainting since the pressure of your blood is low to carry enough oxygen to your vital organs like the brain and your heart. With this, when you have low blood pressure, you are at risk for side effects such as damage to the heart and brain.
On the other hand, if you have a high blood pressure, you are likely to experience symptoms like dizziness, fatigue, low exercise tolerance, nausea, tightness, pressure or pain in the chest or arms. High blood pressure has very dangerous effects too such that you are more prone to cardiovascular diseases and stroke, as well as damage to organs like kidneys.
While when you have a normal blood pressure, it means you are keeping your blood pressure controlled and maintained, so you are not likely to experience the ill effects of either of the two abnormal blood pressure.
What is a normal blood pressure? Knowing what is normal blood pressure is important so you’ll know when you are about to cross the line or not. Usually, normal blood pressure is when your systolic pressure is 120 and diastolic pressure is 80. If it is 140/90, you are now entering stage 1 hypertension. And when it is 90/60, it means you are entering stage 1 hypotension or low blood pressure.
What causes low blood pressure are usually conditions like dehydration, bleeding, lack of nutrients, heart problems, or other conditions that hamper sufficient blood flow and distribution to various organs. What causes high blood pressure could be our lifestyle and diet like smoking, eating fatty and salty foods, too much alcohol consumption, smoking, being overweight, stress, as well as it can also be caused by old age, genes and lack of physical activity.
Changes in the blood pressure are usually hard to spot or determine unless you are starting to feel strange symptoms. Sometimes, the symptoms are already worse and have led to side effects already before we realize we have abnormal blood pressure. This leads to being too late already and reaching the point where it is already hard for us to normalize our blood pressure again. So, the only solution to prevent drastic blood pressure changes and to keep a healthy and normal blood pressure level is to regularly monitor it. You can schedule a doctor’s appointment or buy blood pressure monitors so you can keep track on your blood pressure and keep it normal all the time. By monitoring your blood pressure, you will be able to take the necessary steps and precautions so that you can prevent low or high blood pressure and its ill effect to your health.
